the t13: red, white, and blonde

This week: In celebration of National Poetry Month (no joke), 13 poems.

1. “somewhere i have travelled” by e.e. cummings

2. “Epithalamion” by Edmund Spenser

3. “Jesus Moshpit” by Big Poppa E (I swear, that’s not as weird/blasphemous as it sounds, but there’s some rather, uh, questionable language)

4. “The Sun Rising” by John Donne

5. “Inviting a Friend to Supper” by Ben Jonson

6. “Prayer” by Matthew John Conley

7. “The Journey of the Magi” by T.S. Eliot

8. “Sestina” by Elizabeth Bishop

9. “Child” by Sylvia Plath

10. “On the Bus” by Hilary Thomas

11. I would be remiss if I didn’t include some Shakespeare, so: “Sonnet 29”

12. A poem by someone I know, kind of: “twenty minutes ago” by J. Bryan Shoup.

13. Finally, a classic (and, incidentally, whatever I start quoting whenever I think about “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner”–you’ll probably agree that this is much more pleasant): “The Jumblies” by Edward Lear.
